Hop on board for an in-depth look into the Chippewa Valley’s rich history of athletic achievement, storied competition, and surprising connection to national-level sports including the Packers, the Brewers, the Olympics and so much more. We’ll visit the Carson Park Hall of Fame to hear the truly incredible history of Eau Claire baseball including legends like Hank Aaron, Bob Uecker, Joe Torre and others. We’ll visit the base of Mt. Washington, taking in the incredible Flying Eagles Ski Jump Facility, to hear this community’s celebrated history of soaring through the air on skis. But there’s so much beyond baseball and skis — hear historic and current stories of high-level achievement in football, basketball, Indy and NASCAR racing, hockey, volleyball, running, water skiing and more. Plus unexpected and off-beat sports from horseshoes and kubb to curling and log-rolling. There’s even an Eau Claire sports connection to the long running tv show The Simpsons! The Local Sports Legends Tour lasts approximately 65 minutes, and includes two instances we’ll get off the trolley on short walks to get a closer look at history. Depending on weather, be prepared for the trolley to be set up enclosed with sliding windows, or open-air with brass railings (and roll down curtains in case of rain). Appropriate clothing layers for heat/humidity, or cool breezes, is a good idea. At its length, and its depth of information, this tour is not recommended for children under seven years old.
