Create a lasting memory with Santa for your little ones with our Schoolhouse Christmas Trolley Express! From the seasonal warmth of The Local Store, board the festively decorated trolley with our Victorian-era conductor as he shares kid-focused holiday stories, local legends, Christmas songs, and more. Ride through the heart of downtown Eau Claire to eventually arrive in the woods of Carson Park at the charming Sunnyview School House, to experience a historic schoolhouse Christmas with Santa and Mrs. Claus themselves!
Kids will enjoy cookies, music, and activities before a chat and photos with the big guy. Board the trolley again for a trip back to The Local Store, where each child can ring the vintage bell, pose for more photos with the driver and trolley, enjoy hot chocolate samples, and take home a free trolley coloring page to later enter to win a basket full of Local Store kid stuff including toys, stuffies, and more — worth $150+! The Sunnyview School House is available thanks to our partnership with the Chippewa Valley Museum, and your participation in the tour supports both the Museum as well as the Eau Claire County Humane Association.
The tour lasts approximately 45 minutes and is geared for kids 2 to 9 years old, or anyone who is young at heart! We ask that any infants or children typically requiring rear facing car seats do not ride. The trolley and the schoolhouse are heated but warm clothes are always a good idea for points between. All children must be accompanied by a paying adult. Parents are free to take photos, or our conductor can take photos of your whole family with your device. Regarding accessibility, our trolley requires entry up three steps from the curb, with a solid handrail on both sides.
